Mentoring /Upcoming Mentor Workshops

Dunedin High School is in need of mentors.  Mentors have the opportunity to relate to children by being a friend rather than an authority figure.  A mentor helps a student build their self-esteem and encourage growth and development.  Mentors help students plan for school, set career or personal goals, make healthy choices about day to day life, as well as work through problems the student may be facing.  Mentors meet with their student for 1 hour, 2 times a month.  All mentoring is done on school campus, during school hours.  Mentors and mentees are prohibited from meeting or having any contact off campus.  This includes the sharing of personal information, including phone numbers, email and social media venues.

Mentors are required to attend (once) a FREE 2 hour workshop training course which will provide useful information about being a mentor.  Participants will learn PCS mentoring policies and procedures, effective listening skills, goal setting, communication skills and relationship building.

If you are interested in attending a workshop please click on the following link to register for a workshop:   https://www.pcsb.org/mentors.
